We're finishing up, finally! I really want to play this game! :) Still some details to take care of. Paint the legs, bead blast the hanger bolts, and get some metal deco strips to replace the badly rusted ones. I also needed to replace the rusted twist nails that held the decorative strips in place. Erik Hacker tried desperately to find these for me and may yet come up with some. They are unique and rare nowadays. I did find some that seem very similar in England and I have a couple mates looking for me there (cheers to Chris and David!) These nails are 1/2" long with a 5/16" diameter domed head. No furniture nails come close. I ended up wire wheeling the rust off and then used a 6" buffer to get the steel polished up. They actually came out great! I clear lacquered the heads to prevent future rust and made a nylon nail set from 3/4" nylon rod stock. I turned a concave into the end to match the nail heads and this will drive the nails without damaging the clear lacquer.

I took the playfield back out since I'll be nailing the deco strips on. The original strips were nickel plated mild steel. The cost to get new strips cut, punched and then nickel plated was outrageous so I decided on using #8 finish stainless steel. May not be original (sorry) but the effect is quite good.

Nice! You can see the nails here         I repainted the medallions too

And here's one installed. Sweet!                The other side done!

Man that looks nice :)        Time to put the legs on! Shiny new acorn nuts and washers

Oh yeah, check out this inspection tag on the front door. Notice the date 7/18. As I'm creating these web pages it is 7/18! Good timing eh? :)
