KENNY SCOOP & JUMP SHIELD

Here's a pic, courtesy Ken in Texas, showing minor wear at the edge of the Kenny scoop.

Enter the protectors! Big thanks to Jim Swenson for the template work and testing

In this shot we see it installed in Chris in NH's game. The second pic shows how Chris repaired the wooden edge by sanding and clearing with Minwax Polycrylic. Nice!

If the wear at that edge is too nasty to just clearcoat then perhaps you need the Jump Shield!

Easy to install, it slips between the playfield bottom and the opto bracket there for positive clamping.

Scott Montesi did the template and test work. Big thanks to Scott and Brandon H. Looks factory!

CARTMAN SCOOP & MENU KICKOUT

The Cartman scoop and Menu kickout protectors. Cartman has been the most difficult and intricate protector I have designed to date. It's also slightly more difficult to install than my typical protectors but using the following steps you should have great results. Special thanks to Joe Gioffre for the loan of his playfield!

I've removed the scoop assembly from the bottom as well as the targets and VUK wireform for clarity. You will not need to remove this much but I recommend at least lowering the scoop assembly from the bottom for ease of access.

Slip the protector under the black wire guide rail and hold it up against the bottom of that rail as shown here.

Keeping the right side up under the wire guide at the same time use your fingers to gently twist the protector at one of the two tabs in order to get it into the hole.

Do the same thing with the other tab. Pinch and pull in and walk it into the hole.

Here's what it should look like walked in about half way. Note the back side is still wedged up against the bottom of the wire guide.

Pinch and pull the tabs one last time to get them under the playfield.

On the left you see one tab in and one almost in. The second pic you see me holding the outer edge of the protector with two fingers while using my thumb to slide the tab underneath.

Now I'm using my thumb to pull the protector outwards which allows the back side to drop down. Keep pressure outwards while you install the deflector and post.

And done! Looks great! Now, if you have severe damage you will need to repair the edge around the hole with QuikWood or other epoxy putty first. The tabs that go under the playfield also have small holes in case you want to secure them with #4 x 3/8" screws. This shouldn't be needed but are there just in case.
MENU KICKOUT

Ok this is some nasty wear. Never fear, my protector is here!

The menu kickout protector and shown installed. It's held in place with posts on the left and right sides.

More angles installed. The wood here could easily be sanded and clear coated to renew it's appearance. The protector prevents further edge damage nicely!
